Casa Rex is a guest house and restaurant on mainland Mozambique, with sweeping views of the sparkling ocean and islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. A small footpath winds down to the beach below and the lodge swimming pool, overlooking Vilanculos Bay, is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon.

 

There is also a great verandah and many large indigenous trees offering much needed shade, and adding to the tranquil feel of the property. The lounge and dining areas' are furnished with custom-crafted wood furniture, and decorated with beautiful carvings and interesting local art.

 

Soak up the relaxing atmosphere, explore the nearby market or stroll down to the beach. The hotel's friendly staff will help you plan your day, and Casa Rex provides free transport to and from activities within Vilankulos. There are many activities on offer including scuba diving, dhow trips, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, catamaran trips, sunset cruises and full-day trips to the Bazaruto Islands with a barbecue lunch on the beach.

Casa Rex has an excellent à la carte restaurant which is open for both lunch and dinner. Cuisine is a combination of international and Mozambican dishes, with delicious seafood specialties like crab curry. As you dine, you can gaze out over the ocean to the Bazaruto Islands some 30km away.

 

ROOMS

Casa Rex offers a variety of room types:
 

The Acacia rooms 8 in total are the most recommended ones and they are the most modern of the room options, with amenities including internet connectivity and air-conditioning. The upstairs rooms have a small balcony each, with a fantastic view of the ocean and harbor. Choose between a twin or double room, both with an en-suite shower (no bath).

 

The premium rooms are suitable for families, as two additional single beds can be added to these rooms to accommodate children. Premium rooms are basic but comfortable, and equipped with fans and mosquito nets - no air-conditioning.

 

The courtyard suite comprises a bedroom (double bed with mosquito net), private dressing area, en-suite shower and large terrace. Note that once again there are fans, but no air-conditioning.
