Namib-Naukluft Park

The Namib Naukluft Park, covers an area of 49768 sq km thus qualifying not only as the largest conservation area in Namibia, but is rated the 4th largest in the world, as well as being the most unusual.

This Park has a concentrate of timelessness and depending on the time of the day, there is an alter of moods, a cooperate of light and shadow, rewarding the desert landscapes with exclusively new tints and textures which offer a clear opportunity for the good judge of scenery, atmosphere and extra ordinary.

Sossuvlei is a dune wonderland, with towering dunes up to 300 m high surrounding a huge, dried-up pan.
Dunes extend as far as the eye can see and their rich tints vary from pale apricot to vivid reds and oranges.
During a good rainy season the Tsauchab River flows into the pan which creates a sanctuary for water birds.
Even during the dry season, orix, springbok and ostriches can be seen feeding off the sparse vegetation along the water courses. About 42 km south of the port of Walvis Bay, Sandwich Harbour is a large, reed-lined marine lagoon which is home to many coastal and freshwater birds. It is also a major breeding ground for numerous species of fish Accessible only in 4x4 vehicles, no overnight camping is allowed.

A collection of poised buildings dating from the German era exist at Lüderitz, a harbour town which was founded by Adolf Lüderitz in 1884 is set between the Namib Desert dunes and the wild Atlantic seaboard. This town has a quiet and soothing atmosphere with promenades, palm trees and magnificently tended public gardens.

Fish River Canyon National Park

This Park lie in the Southern part of Namibia, Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world. With a depth of up to 550 metres in parts, the enormous gorge winds along a distance of approx. 160 kilometres through the fissured Koubis Massif all the way down to Ai-Ais. The canyon starts near Seeheim, is 161 kilometres long and ends at Ai-Ais.

The Fish River Hiking trail is one of the most prominent hikes in Southern Africa. The hike covers a distance of just over 80km in the base of the canyon and takes over 5 days with absolutely no amenities whatsoever. To undertake the hike you should be in sound fitness and obtain a hiking permit. In the summer (Nov to mid March) temperatures can reach some 50°C, resulting in the canyon being closed to the public for hiking during that time

Ais-Ais hot springs can be found within the Fish River Canyon conservation area. These sulphurous springs originate deep underground and are rich in minerals, which have been reported to be beneficial for those with rheumatic or nervous disorders. Ais-Ais hot springs are a public facility, attached to a resort that includes an indoor spa with Jacuzzi. The resort is closed from November to mid March
