Namibia National Parks Game Reserves Mahango Game Reserve And Caprivi Game Reserve Safaris
This game reserve is situated on the North-eastern side of Namibia on the Botswana border, divided from the Caprivi Game Reserve by the Okavango River, covering an area of about 30000ha. Although small this is a beautiful reserve and is home for a wide variety of wildlife including; Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild dog, Hippo, Sitatunga, Lechwe, Buffalo, Roan, Sable and other antelopes.
The reserve can be accessed through out the year though the game drive is more suitable during the dry season.
The reserve has got two game viewing roads of which one is only suited by 4X4 wheel vehicles while the other can best suit any vehicle.
There is no accommodation facility inside the reserve though it can be sought about 18km from the reserve.
Caprivi Game Reserve
This game reserve is situated in the far Northern part of Namibia with an opportunity for rugged game-viewing and camping expeditions. This is still regarded as the unspoilt wilderness atmosphere.
To the east, Caprivi has got swamps and flood plains and bordered by the Linyanti, Chobe, Kwando and River Zambezi.
Activities in this game reserve include; hiking, fishing, game-viewing safaris or river trips onboard luxurious river boats or in a traditional "mokoro".
Distinctive pottery, basketry and wood carvings from the region can be got at the Caprivi Art Centre.
Several safari lodges exist around this area.
The Mahango and Caprivi Game Reserves as well as the Mamili and Mudumu National Parks, are all found in this area.
Trips to the neighbouring Chobe Game Reserve in Botswana and the famous Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe are less than an hour's flight away from Katima Mulilo in the Eastern Caprivi.
