Namibia National Parks Game Reserves Khaudom Game Reserve And Kaokoland Nature Reserve
This beautiful and Wildlife rich reserve, covers an area of about 384000ha of dry woodland savannah with sand dunes. It is situated on the North-eastern side of Namibia, on the Botswana border. Expect to see; Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Giraffe, Tsessebe, Gemsbok, Cheetah, Wild dog, Hyena, Roan and some Antelopes.
The roads are sandy tracks crossing the dunes and dry river beds. Visitors must travel in a group of at least 2 4X4 vehicles, and must carry all necessary food, water and petrol.
There are 2 camp sites; Sikereti on the South and Khaudom on the North, both with 4-bed Huts.
Kaokoland Nature Reserve
This nature reserve is situated in North-Western Namibia, separated from the Atlantic Ocean by the Skeleton Coast Park. This Reserve covers an area of more than one million ha of rugged unspoiled terrain, alternating between wide grassy plains and mountain ranges. Expect to see animals such as; Elephant, Black Rhino, Giraffe, Springbok, Lion, Ostrix. Not a recommended reserve for ease-loving tourists, but rather for people that appreciate being isolated from it all, in the middle of nowhere. On visiting the reserve, groups of at least 2 4X4 vehicles is highly recommended. They must carry all food, water, spares, first aid kit and camping equipment.
There are no accommodation facilities in the reserve and thus, visitors usually camp next to the dry river beds. Note that, lions exist on the reserve, thus be aware of it while camping.
