Namibia National Parks Game Reserves Daan Viljoen Game Park And Etosha National Park
This is the smallest national park in Namibia lying about 18km west of Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. Thus, this park is frequently liked by weekend and day visitors. While in Daan Viljoen, expect to view animals such as; the red hartebeest, the great kudu, springbok, baboons, steenbok, klipspringer, giraffes, blue wildebeests, antelopes (eland and oryx) plus over 200 bird species counting; rock runner, red billed francolin, helmeted guinea fowl, yellow billed hornbill.
There is a network of walking tracks to explore fully the park; this is based on the fact that, there are no large predators therein.
A rest camp is located on the shores of Augeigas dam which offer accommodation in several bungalows, a camp site and picnic area for a day visitors. It also has a restaurant and swimming pool.
Etosha National Park
Etosha is Situated in northern Namibia approximately lies 500 kilometres north of Windhoek. Ethosha covers an area of around 23 000 square kilometres and is one of Namibia’s most celebrated parks and one of the biggest reserves on the African continent. Etosha covers a vast salt pan which covers areas of approximately 5,000 square kilometres.
It is home to a number of animals including; lion, leopard, elephant, both Burchell's and Hartmann's zebras, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, black rhinoceros, red hartebeests, blue wildebeests, eland, kudu, springbok, gemsbok, black-faced impala and many other types of antelope in addition to over 340 species of birds, with large flocks of flamingos and white pelicans which come to breed in years of good rainfall. Besides, spotted are ostrich, kori bustard, which can weigh over 30 pounds, and Yellow-billed hornbills.
Game viewing is good for most part of the year but the best time to visit is in the winter, which is also the dry season, from May through September. During this period, wildlife gathers around the waterholes. There is a large network of fairly well maintained roads running through the park.
